two little chairs

the apartment complex
has a huge parking structure
that stands separate
from it

the architects
cleverly put
the parking structure
between the complex
and the railroad tracks
so as to block
the sound
of the trains

between the rails
and the structure
runs a chain link fence
and between the fence
and the structure
runs a narrow strip of grass 

there’s a little notch
on the railroad side
of the structure
to accommodate a stairwell
and in this notch
is a tiny plot of grass
and two lawn chairs
that somebody
thoughtfully left out
for people
who want
to enjoy
the trains
rolling by
