Writing Report January 9, 2026
Normally I start my new major writing projects on January 1st and July 1st of each year, but for my latest WIP I had an idea for the opening scene back in October so I wrote it; clocked in at around 160 words.
After Christmas, I decided to re-read what I’d written so I could get started right away after New Year’s Eve. Instead, it sparked ideas for three follow-up scenes so I wrote those, raising the word count to just over 1,400.
The day after that -- fired up by my productivity -- I blitzed out 6,000 words; even for me, a blistering pace. By New Year’s Eve I’d crested well over 10,000 words.
As of today I’ve written over 20,000 words and am roughly 1/3 of the way through my story.
Yay, me.
