every day I lived [POEM]
every day I lived
I watched my world die
cheerfully helped along
by parasites, prey, and predators
who didn’t comprehend
the throats they so gleefully slit
were their own
the meek will inherit the earth
the predators will devour themselves
those that mourn
shall be comforted
because the comfortable
don’t want that kind of love
they don’t comprehend
this is what makes them
miserable
