various late night poems
why don’t you
watch movies
with the sound off?
talking only
confuses things
and if
you don’t
understand
what you’re looking at
at least
you’ve seen it
and with
words
you never know
if you heard
them
correctly
. . .
a glass of whiskey
can be a good friend
or a bitter enemy
or both
at the same time
it’s flexible
that way
. . .
some nights
the poems lay lurking
just out of sight
whispering and giggling
to themselves
like young virgins
eager to be caught
. . .
in the night
there are many secrets
but the secrets
aren’t as important
as the reality
of being alive
