Lot's Wife

lot’s wife
was on her way to safety
but she paused
to look back
and that
was that

there was no sin
in looking
no crime
in missing
what was forever lost

the fault lay in
ever assuming
she could go back

once you jump
out of the airplane
you can’t
climb back in
so don’t
take off
your parachute
