No negative comments or jokes until 72 hours after the funeral. Hate their politics / art / theology / shows all you like but remember they leave family and friends behind, often a spouse and children.  Let them have time and space to grieve for a bit, no matter how egregious their statements may be during such a time.

If your comment or joke isn't as fresh and as pertinent 72 hours after they're buried, it was never fresh or pertinent to begin with.

A year from now you won't be able to remember their name.
