Is America A Christian Nation?

Somebody on FB sent me this[1]:

I thanked them politely and sent them this:

The FB poster believes America is a Christian nation.

I think the evidence points to the contrary.

Oh, it’s a nation with some Christians in it, to be sure; and there are times when Christians have made positive contributions to this nation.

But a Christian nation…?[2]

Really?

Really?

Lemme ask you, if you were Jesus would you want your name associated with this…?

…or this?

…or this?

…or this?

…or this?

…or this?

…or this?

…or this?

…or this?

…or this?

…or this?

…or this?

…or this?

No truly Christian nation would have permitted any of the above.

The Decalogue warns us:  “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.”

That’s what we do when we claim America is a Christian nation.

Don’t be a blasphemer.

Be a Christian.

Do what’s right.

Even if it means being “un-American”.
