Ah, This Brings Back Memories...

My daughter posted a link on FB to this commercial and asked:  "Remind you of anyone?" Why, yes.  Yes, it does.

Once upon a time when someone I know was 8 or 10 years of age, she got a plastic spider ring for Halloween, much like this one:

As you can see, fairly realistic looking.  And since we lived in a neighborhood where black widow spiders were frequently found, you can't blame me for my reaction when I found the ring on the bathroom counter-top where the young lady had left it.

I had a magazine in my hand so the instant I saw the ring when I turned the light on, I was already in motion, bringing the magazine (Time, IIRC) down w/great chitinous exoskeleton crushing force.

Halfway down in my swing, I realized it wasn't a real spider but a toy ring.  Still, momentum carried me thru and I hit the toy with all the force I could muster.
