Tales Of The Emerald Yeti

Tales Of The Emerald Yeti

Mi amigo Kenn Minter and his co-creator Clarence Pruitt just published their latest graphic novel, Tales Of The Emerald Yeti. Here’s what I had to say about it for the cover blurb:

Anybody can make fun of classic comics, but it takes talented creators knowledgeable about the medium to make fun with it, taking it apart and putting it back together in a way that’s simultaneously faithful to the form’s motifs while reassembling them in a delightfully unpredictable pattern.  “Tales Of The Emerald Yeti” is Kenn Minter and Clarence Pruitt’s long anticipated graphic novel, and the two co-creators pull off a perfect blend of Silver Age Marvel superhero sensibilities with the savage satire of underground comix.  Easily accessible to readers unfamiliar with those genres yet richly rewarding with sly insights for long time fans, “Tales Of The Emerald Yeti” dodges the cliché cynicism of far too many pop culture deconstructions to offer a fun (and funny!) tale that comes down firmly on the side of hope and optimism.  It’s the kind of story that can only be told by a team working from the heart and as such, stands furry green head and shoulders about the commercial corporate product cranked out like so many miles of sausage.  It’s a great read and I highly recommend it to everyone.

Got that? Go buy the book — you’ll be glad you did.
