Nobody Should Be Rich [poem]

nobody should be rich
this is not to say no one
should benefit off their efforts
but rather
everybody should have enough

to be rich
is to become
d I s c o n n e c t e d
from the rest of humanity 

not withdrawing for privacy
not becoming a hermit
but disconnecting
from other human beings 

to seek privacy
or to become a hermit
still acknowledges
the reality
of other humans
just a disinclination
to be among them

but to be rich
divorces you
from others
“you” are better
“you” are superior
“they” are unworthy
and being unworthy
don’t need
to be included
in your calculations
other than fodder
for more wealth
for you

money
protects
money
not people
