what will you do
o israel
when the toll
is six million
plus one?

what will you do
when defense
against the defenseless
leaves more victims
in their graves
than in yours?

what will you do
when even your closest allies
your most sympathetic friends
cry “Hold!  Enough!”?

will you keep retaliating
a dozen eyes for one
until no one sees
the difference between you
and those who hated you?
