damn you, homeless
for claiming a right
to life / liberty / pursue happiness
when those rights
are mine
and mine
alone

damn you, homeless
for wanting to benefit
from your labor
instead of letting me
sop up your sweat
for my ease
and comfort

damn you, homeless
for asking there be
affordable housing
not stoically accepting
my price gouging

damn you, homeless
for demonstrating
I failed you
repeatedly
failing to educate you
to provide for yourself
instead of catering
to me
failing to comfort you
when you felt depressed
enough to seek anything
to ease your pain
failing to treat you
when you fell sick
in body / mind / spirit
failing to help you
when your pain
grew too great
and you simply
gave up

damn you, homeless
for not letting me sleep
through your pain
and suffering
reminding me
I’m no more
than three bad weeks
from joining you
on the streets

damn you, homeless
