Gardening Report

So far, a pretty good growing season.

I’d give us a B-.

We left our previous enclosure and moved to one that was abandoned by the previous gardeners.  We spent the first few months just getting the soil ready and laying out the irrigation system, then settled in for some serious planting in the spring.

So far we’re doing well re plants surviving and bearing fruit, but the taste is weaker than we anticipated.

Pests got to the eggplant so that’s off the list, but the zucchini and cucumbers seem to be doing well.  The tomatoes are doing better re growth and fruit ripening, but as mentioned the taste isn’t as flavorable as we’d like.

We added a shade cloth to see if that helps (tomatoes need the right balance of sun, and SoCal can be pretty blistering in the summer).

I did some minor touch-ups and repairs to the structure itself, and to complete the report we’ve been drowning snails and slug in little cups of Bud Light (which is just about the only thing that it’s good for [no transphobia here; it’s always been vile, undrinkable swill]).

We’re going to reorganize the enclosure come fall, but right now we’re pretty happy with the way things are going.
