The high school guidance counselor raised her eyebrow as the six year old drew an elaborate pentagram on the floor of his parents’ garage.
She couldn’t say much because of the argyle sock shoved in her mouth, but she could witness the intricate ritual the child went through.
“Every night I have dreams about going to high school,” said the child. “Nightmares, actually. They captivate me, making me thirsty to find out what they mean.”
The child was nothing if not precocious.
“I’m going to try to bring those dreams to a close,” the child said.
“Mmmph-mmmph-mmmph!” said the guidance counselor, which the child chose to interpret as “Ok, if you insist…”
The child laid out a portfolio of black magic illustrations before the guidance counselor. “Tell me if this proves too much,” he said.
The guidance counselor strained against her bonds to no avail.
The portfolio proved the child’s fertile if sick imagination. “This is my most common dream,” the child said, showing the guidance counselor a crude drawing of a one-eyed pirate capybara carrying a straight razor between its teeth.
Outside the garage came the ominous clicking of tiny claws, drawing closer and closer and closer…
