squeaky rusty wheelbarrow (poem)

squeaky rusty wheelbarrow (poem)

it squeaks
like my knees
and groans
like a garbage can
falling
down a flight of stairs

it reminds me
of William Carlos Williams’
famous red wheelbarrow
and like that
famous one
this one
gets the job
done

maybe I’m no
William Carlos Williams
but it’s my garden
and I get
the job done, too

The Red Wheelbarrow
by William Carlos Williams

so much depends
upon

a red wheel
barrow

glazed with rain
water

beside the white
chickens.
