and justly so

if you try
to buy
your way
into heaven
through good deeds
you’re not going

in fact
you’ve pretty much
excluded yourself
because you’ve reduced
righteousness
into prostitution

if you
will do
a good deed
for a
reward
you will
commit atrocities
just as easily
because
you’re not in it
for them 
you’re in it
for you

“but Christ
is the only 
way”
they say 

and again
they are right
but neither God
nor Jesus
care
if you know
them
so long
as you love
one another
