What The Hell Are You?
You cannot call yourself an American if you do not believe in liberty and justice for all.
You do not believe in liberty and justice for all if any of your fellow citizens are suffering from discrimination and prejudice and you do not at the very least offer moral support to their efforts to obtain equal rights and protection under the law.
You absolutely are not an American -- no matter where you were born, or how many years you served in uniform, or how many political offices you held, or how many times you voted -- if you actively work against others’ efforts to obtain liberty and justice.
To fail to stand for all citizens’ right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness -- however they define happiness -- is 100% contrary to America’s creed.
You cannot call yourself a Christian if you see injustice befalling anyone -- U.S. citizen or not -- and you do not at the very least voice opposition to their treatment.
You cannot do that and call yourself a Christian.
There’s plenty of room to debate fine points and niceties, but if you’re not supporting others’ quest for justice, you are aiding in their oppression.
You do not get to tell others what they feel, what they see, what they experience.
If your brother or sister or your transgender neighbor has a problem, you help, even if all you can do is offer comfort.
