haiku for the summer of trump
the cat’s litter box
doesn’t include elections
and still needs cleaning
old man in plaid shorts
you got balls, really big ones
that’s no compliment
they drive big white trucks
because they are big white men
or that’s what they think
. . . . .
white people be like
white people be like
“show us exactly how
racism hurt you”
and you produce
a list
carefully drawn up
thoroughly researched
scrupulously documented
impeccably argued
of all the ways
racism has harmed
you and
your people
intentionally or
accidentally or
incidentally
and white people be like
“you misspelled this word”
. . . . .
white privilege
whenever I hear
white people
weep-wail-moan
“why do they
hate me?
I did
nothing
to them!”
i have to
marvel
at their
sheer obtuseness
and utter inability
to recognize
to realize
that blacks
have asked
the exact
same question
about whites
for 450 years
. . . . .
if you need to wear a sign
if you need to wear
a sign that says
“I’m a Christian”
guess what…
