we were watching
White Christmas
as we are
wont to do
over Christmas
and when we saw
Danny Kaye and Vera-Ellen do
“The Best Things (Happen When You’re Dancing)”
the older granddaughter said:
“I’d love to dance
on a pole someday”
and I thought:
“That’s a career option
fraught with implications…”
