curious [poem]

we wonder where we're heading
we wonder where we'll go
we wonder where we'll end up
we wonder how we'll know

 but where we came from matters
and what we were before
those are the two big questions
and the ones that matter more

 the answer to where we're going
can be found in where we came
and we'll leave the life we're living
along with memory and name

 they say you can't go back again
that death and age are theft
perhaps the place we long for
is a place we never left
