you disappoint me gregory

somebody
who loved you
put your
best poems
together
and I read them
and I said

“YES!”
and
“This is what
poetry should be!”

but then
I read
your collected works
and I realized
even a blind pig
will find
some truffles
and even a
hack poet
will find
some genius

I’m not angry
Gregory
because I’m sure
you reached
for the
stars
but so little
of what you wrote
is worth
remembering
